It’s possible you haven’t seen anything about it on the evening news, but they’re been going on around the country.
Tea Parties have been planned in cities where taxpayers think government has gotten too big. Trillion dollar spending plans indicate there’s no change in sight, they say.
Now, a tea party is being planned in Kingsport.
“This is a non-partisan peaceful protest giving local citizens the opportunity to voice their anger over tax rates and deficit spending,“ said Britt Buehrig, local rally organizer. “This is not an “Obama bash”; we want to protest any politician of any party who would dare to spend trillions of our dollars without even reading the bill.“
The rally will take place April 15th from 3-5 p.m.at Memorial Park on Ft. Henry Drive, Kingsport across from Dobyns-Bennett High School.
Think you might attend? Or is this just an exercise in futility? What do you think?

“The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.“
Edmund Burke was right. We should use this event to show our support for the Constitution and work to restore it by educating others of the importance of limited government and States rights under the Tenth Amendment. I plan on attending and hope to see many fellow patriots there.

I just saw the lineup of speakers. It looks like this “Tea Party” turned into nothing more than a Republican Party rally. What a waste of time. I actually anticipated that this gathering might be interesting. All the organizers have done is to invite some of the people that are part of the problem. I’m afraid this is what I would expect from Kingsport.

Mr. Oliver, in case you didn’t notice the Constitution was twisted the past 8 years under our Pres Bush. You also talk about the current admin taking us toward socialism; you know the opposite to socialist is fascist which most folks would rather not be called either.
As for the tea party on fiscal responsibility, where were they the past years when Pres Bush was running big debts with two wars while giving tax breaks.

Our founding fathers wrote the Constitution and formed our goverment for the protection and rights of each individual. The present Administration is taking advantage of the current financial problems and ignoring the Constitution. They are trying to elimate our rights, grab power, and move our government in the directon of Socialism. As White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel once said, “Never allow a crisis to go to waste. They are opportunities to do big things”. The current Administration is not letting this opportunity go to “Waste”. Government belongs to the individual States and its people. We need to take it back!

All I can say would be repetitive of Raul’s comment. It is definitely time for a grass roots movement to change the direction that this country is headed, and neither party is able to accomplish that change. The legislature of this country seem to lose touch with reality once they reach the beltway. The current and past policies of the Government that we elected seems to be dividing this country into castes of privileged and serf. The incompetence of the government is shown to us daily with financial scandals that should have been caught by the regulators, and the product recalls of tainted food that should have been found by inspectors before it ever hit store shelves Basically “We the People” need to git these bozos in Washington’s attention.

It is well past time that we the sheeple became we the people. Our government no longer works for us, but we certainly work to maintain the extravagant lifestyles of our leaders. When all of America is being asked or forced to sacrifice, no one whome we have elected has made a similar offer. As more of us lose our jobs, our homes, our health care, and our dignity there has not been a single act of sacrifice by our leaders. Their legislation guarantees them an annual cost of living raise, a guaranteed retirement, and the best health care WE can pay for. Enough is enough.
